Rea had surgery on 3/12/07 to remove an angular dermoid cyst that she had at birth. The out-patient procedure was performed at
Texas Children's Hospital, which is one of the largest pediatric hospitals in the United States. They even have valet parking, which is free on the day of the surgery.
Gary, my mom and I took Rea to the hospital at 6:00am, and we were out of there by 11:30am. The most complicated part of the day was consoling Rea when she could not understand why she wasn't allowed any breakfast. The operation was a success with no complications, and the pathology report confirmed that it was benign. Rea was very loopy for the remainder of the day (as you can see from the photo). The small scar was hidden by a single band-aid, which came off within a few hours to reveal a strip of sterile tape attached to her head.
