Gary and Traci

  • New House Concept

Check out the video that Traci Rea put together to conceptualize the style we're looking for in our new house. It's an 8 MB download so only try this if you have a fast Internet connection.

  • Rea's Surgery

Rea had surgery on 3/12/07 to remove an angular dermoid cyst that she had at birth. The out-patient procedure was performed at Texas Children's Hospital, which is one of the largest pediatric hospitals in the United States. They even have valet parking, which is free on the day of the surgery.
Gary, my mom and I took Rea to the hospital at 6:00am, and we were out of there by 11:30am. The most complicated part of the day was consoling Rea when she could not understand why she wasn't allowed any breakfast. The operation was a success with no complications, and the pathology report confirmed that it was benign. Rea was very loopy for the remainder of the day (as you can see from the photo). The small scar was hidden by a single band-aid, which came off within a few hours to reveal a strip of sterile tape attached to her head. Please click on the picture to see some more photos of Rea after the surgery.
  • Happy Three Months Old

Rea did not cooperate in the attempt to have some professional photographs taken of her as she turns three months old. But somehow the photographer manages to capture a few pictures in which it doesn't look like she is exploding with out-of-control sobs.
  • (Almost) One Month Birthday

This coming Wednesday, Rea will be one whole month old. Her first visit to the pediatrician was a little over a week ago at two weeks old, and her stats were 8lb 4oz in weight and 21 inches in length, which was a growth of almost a pound and almost an inch. To round off the month, we've uploaded some more pictures to our blog. Click on the picture to the left to take a look.

  • More Pictures of Rea

Just a quick update... Rea has settled in very well and keeps getting more beautiful each day. We've added some more pictures. There are now three Rea-related photo galleries on our web site. Here's a link to each of them:

During the pregancy: Some pictures of the Rea's room with her crib, and some pictures from Traci's baby shower.

First few days: Take another look at the new born photos because we've added several more pictures to this album since first publishing it a few days ago.

The first month: We'll keep adding photos of Rea's first month here. We've added several already that were taken after we got home.

  • Rea Violet Clarke

Our daughter Rea was born on Monday, November 20, 2006, at 1:20pm CST. We are thrilled that she is in perfect health and about as cute as you can imagine. She weighed in at 7 lbs 6 oz and measured 20 1/4 inches. Traci did a fantastic job and is doing great after the delivery. Click on the picture to see more photos that we have taken of Rea during her first day of life.

  • Traci's Bump

Take a look at some photos we uploaded of Traci with her bump, and from her baby shower. The due date is 11/19/06. Just a few more weeks...

  • England 2006

We finally uploaded some pictures from our trip to England earlier this year. Samantha, our cat who emigrated from America, seemed quite happy living the good life with my mum. We did a lot while we were there including renting a barge for a few days and going on a safari park at Woburn Abbey. Take a look at the pictures we took while we were there.

  • HP MVP Trip

Traci was recognized as an MVP (Most Valuable Player) by HP this year. She was one of about 500 people that were sent (with spouses!) on an all-expenses-paid trip to Disneyworld in Orlando in appreciation for her efforts. This four day event was an extravaganza of fine dining, entertainment, and fun. One of our highlights was an exclusive evening at the MGM Studio park after hours when the park was closed. See more pictures from our trip here.

  • Gail gets hitched to Paul

It's about time--Gail and Paul are now married and we have the pictures to prove it. Traci and I really wanted to be there but the INS was not cooperating. A short while later, of course, my replacement green card finally arrives in the mail. The envelope it was in wasn't even sealed. I'm lucky this one didn't get lost too--which would probably have caused another two year wait! At least now we can go visit them, and mum, and some friends at Christmas. Look out England--here we come!

  • Banana Tree emergency

We had to take a short break from the fish tank today to attend to an emergency in the back yard. For some reason, three of our banana trees broke in half, bending all the way to the ground. Was it the weight of the bananas? Who knows! It's strange, however, that it happened to three of them all at once! Luckily, one of the trees bent over into the neighbors yard, so we only had to cut down two of them. :)

Check out the pictures in Our Back Yard gallery!

  • An article on reef tanks

As our aquarium project continues to take over our lives, we decided to write a quick article describing some aquarium links that we've found informative or useful. Just in case you're thinking about possibly setting up your own tank, this article is a good place to start. We'll post some more articles about setting up and maintaining reef tank aquariums later on. However, since we are still amateurs (only a year and a half into this wallet-draining hobby), take our advice for what it's worth!

  • Our 180 Gallon Reef Aquarium Project

Well, it has taken us about 6 weeks, but we are on the home stretch... we think! We have our new 180 gallon reef aquarium running now and the live rock is in place. Now all we have to do is wait until it has fully cycled before transferring our critters! For those of you who don't know, whenever new organisms are added to a saltwater aquarium, they go through a cycle of ammonia, nitrite, then finally nitrate. Once all traces of nitrate are gone, it's safe for fish and invertebrates.

Take a look at The Tank image gallery to see some cool photos taken throughout the lengthy process. But we're not done yet... so keep checking back for the latest and greatest updates!

    Cheers!

    Traci and Gary

  • Our very first blog!

Hello visitor. We've finally setup our own web site. Amazingly, no coding was involved--thanks to a product called “.Text”. Take a look in our picture gallery to see photos of our land. We purchased it from Traci's brother earlier this year and have been making gradual progress clearing it off.
